Whiskey Cake Kitchen + Bar

I’m in Dallas for a few days and was lucky enough to be introduced to Whiskey Cake this weekend. This place is not to be missed when in Big D. Sean Conner, the Bar Manager at Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar, won the Dallas finals of the 2011 Nation’s Most Inspired Bartender Search presented by GQ magazine and Bombay Sapphire…and that is easy to believe after having one delicious sip of Tracy’s Garden below which was a refreshing mix of gin, cucumber, fresh basil and lime! Then I had the fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, and oh-my…warm tx goat cheese fondue! I can’t even explain the decadence of this “snack” as they call it. For my entree, Chicken & Cheese Melt with rotisserie chicken, pesto mayonnaise, avocado, blt, and havarti on sourdough. Of course, for dessert we had to try the Whiskey Cake which had a sweet, sugar crust and fresh dollop of whipped cream to end the meal perfectly. I can’t wait to head back to this spot on my next trip when I’ll be trying the cocktails Wabbit Smash (gin, carrot, mint, honey, lemon, ginger) and Bee Sting (tequila, jalepeño, grapefruit, lime, agave, countreau), both which were big hits at our table!
