Metallic Passport Holders by Graphic Image

Before heading abroad, scan your ID and passport and email them to yourself so you can easily access them if they are lost. It also wouldn’t hurt to make copies of your airline tickets, traveler’s checks, credit cards, and itinerary.  Keep one copy for yourself and ask a friend or family member back home to keep the info on hand too.

Before heading abroad, call the customer service number for each of your major credit cards and tell them the dates you’ll be traveling and the countries you’ll be in. It’s no fun to have your credit card declined on your foreign shopping spree because of “unusual spending patterns”. One call can also inform you of useful services they can offer during your trip, of how acceptable their credit card is in the countries you’ll be visiting, and of their exchange rate.

Next time you visit a new city, hire a private guide. Sure you can go about sightseeing on your own with those heavy guidebooks and clumsy maps. But doesn’t it make more sense to leave it to the experts? Give yourself a break and relax while a local expert picks you up in a private car, avoids main street traffic & long tourist lines, takes you to ONLY those spots you’re really interested in seeing, and then gives you every detail and a true understanding of them. Not to mention, you’ll actually get pictures of the sights with more than one person in them! We think it’s the most efficient way to see the sights…especially when you’re only in the city for a day or two. Afraid it will break the bank? Many private guides are reasonably priced as they’re students or retired residents paid hourly or for gratuities. Many guides have half-day options too. Just be sure to ask if entrance fees are included or additional and whether you will be covering the guide’s entrance fee. Also, don’t forget to tip and even consider treating your guide to lunch if they’re phenomenal. Besides, they’ll probably have the inside scoop on authentic cuisine too! Now, how do you find these expert guides? The easiest way is through a great hotel or travel advisor. The best way? Get a recommendation from a friend who has been to the city before. Traveling on business and only in town for a blip? Make the trip into more than just a hotel stay with a few hours with a private guide.

Almay Travel Size Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover Pads...one of my carry-on essentials.

If your luggage hasn’t gotten lost overnight yet, you’re one of the lucky ones. To make the wait for your lost bag somewhat bearable (when it does go missing), be sure to pack a few essentials in your carry-on. We think everyone should include prescriptions, camera, and phone chargers. Beyond that, must-haves are up to you. On my list? A change of undies, basic make-up (powder, eyeliner, mascara & gloss), face wash, make-up remover pads, toothbrush & paste, valuable jewelry, and sunglasses. That should get me through the night and to the nearest mall without feeling like a total mess. What’s on your must-have list?

Marvis Travel Size Toothpaste...another essential in my bag!

Transcend 32 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card

Heading to a wedding, to a family reunion, or on the trip of a lifetime? We know you’ll be documenting every detail with that digital camera. Avoid the frustration of having to delete not-so-great shots mid-trip by buying the biggest memory card you can find (or two smaller cards) before you depart. Often they are more expensive abroad and definitely in hotel gift shops. Besides, there’s nothing worse than trying to capture that moment and getting a “memory card full” message.
