So hit the gym, grab a salad, slather on that self-tanner, and head to ArriveChic.com for some must-have travel treats you’re bound to put to good use. Who does’t love a new accessory or two anyway? Or, if you’re in Miami, just head here tomorrow:

TOMORROW! Saturday, March 15th
Noon to 6pm!
What a beautiful day in the neighborhood yesterday…and by neighborhood I mean Key Biscayne. It’s funny, or maybe sad, that the incredible attractions of South Florida aren’t often taken advantage of by those who actually live in Miami year round. I’m definitely guilty of getting wrapped up in a busy go-go-go life so much that months will go by without putting my toes in the sand…and that’s unacceptable. I mean, people travel around the world to step foot on these shores. So, I literally blocked out a day in my planner weeks out and scheduled nothing else but “BEACH”. When I woke up yesterday and it was 57 degrees, I almost canned it…and to be honest, was pissed. Seriously? I mean really. Our one beach day in forever? Then I told my three boys to grab their hoodies because nothing was keeping us from this day in the sand. Thank god we didn’t abort mission because I can’t remember the last day that Miami was this gorgeous. Those hoodies never saw the light of day. Just see for yourself…
It was PERFECT! We headed to Key Biscayne to mix it up a bit since South Beach can get a little repetitive, even if we mostly see it after dark. Plus, we wanted to head out there now before the masses invade for the Sony Open Tennis Tournament starting March 17th through the 30th. That mind-blowing traffic is only tolerable if we’re headed to the Sony Open too. Oh, and, by the way, there’s currently a mess of construction on the Key Biscayne Rickenbacker so good luck tennis fans. Lucky for us, those masses were at Cadillac Championship at The Trump National Doral and the Sprung! Spring Beer Festival in Coconut Grove across town today. So Crandon Park Beach was all ours…and breathtaking. A tip? Be sure to stop by the ATM on the way out to Crandon. It’s cash only for all of the vendors in the park including ice cream and carousel rides – must-haves with my two tots. So get out there, Miami, and don’t forget to enjoy what’s ours…even if you have to schedule it weeks out or grab something to keep warm this time of year. This city is worth the planning and you know it will be smokin’ hot by 11 a.m. anyway.
If there’s one thing I love, it’s a great boutique. Boutique shopping, boutique hotels…hell, I even own a travel accessories e-boutique. So when I heard about the “Trendy Hour” event last Friday on Miami Beach combining the chic boutique Sense Beach House Hotel and The Trendy Truck, a boutique on wheels, I knew I couldn’t miss it.
The two paired up for an evening of cocktail sipping at The Local House, the Sense Beach House Hotel’s restaurant, and mobile shopping out front on Ocean Drive from 4-7 pm. There was a fun crowd at the bar and a pretty packed outdoor area where many lounged on comfy couches street side enjoying everything from a glass of Rosé to their signature cocktail Beyond Good and Evil, a sweet & spicy mix of rum, jalepeño, lime, and passion fruit served in a mason jar. This was only, of course, when they weren’t hopping into the Trendy Truck to grab new fashion finds like an adorable leopard print tank dress and a pleather zip back shift dress, not to mention these cute zippered pouches…
A two-night stay at the Sense Beach House Hotel and $100 “Truck Bucks” were even given away to one lucky winner who liked both of their pages on Facebook. What a perfect way this was to start the weekend!
In fact, being there made me want to stay for the entire weekend. I fall more and more in love with Sense Beach House Hotel each time I stop by. The neutral color palette with accents of blue is so calming and continuously reminds visitors that the Atlantic is only steps away. The look of Sense Beach House can best be described as clean, fresh, and open with a white-washed bar at the entrance and sunlight illuminating the entire space. One step inside and you want to stop, take a moment, and just breathe in. This is what a hotel on the beach should look like. It’s Beach Shabby Chic (only light on the shabby) with elegant details throughout the hotel that elevate the spot to the level of luxury and sophistication that we Miamians are all accustomed to on South Beach. Plus, they’re keeping it young and fun with whimsical touches, such as a yellow surfboard leaning in the corner, a blow up zebra who makes occasional appearances, endless mimosa brunches, and live music on the weekends. To make things even better, it’s located in the quiet South of Fifth (SoFi) District which is several blocks away from the mega SoBe hotels that pump music in their über-trendy lobbies 24/7. At the Sense Beach House Hotel, you’ll feel like you’ve found your own private escape (and the best kept secret) right on South Beach. But don’t worry, that über-trendy scene is a short cab ride away, if you decide you want it.
The Trendy Truck is a mobile boutique traveling throughout South Florida that is fully air-conditioned, stocked with great pieces from accessories to shorts to maxi dresses, and even has a dressing room. Like them on Facebook or check out their “pit stops” on their website to see where they’ll stop next. Or better yet, call your girlfriends over and schedule a Trendy Truck house call…because, yes, they do those and how much fun does that sound?

Rent The Runway Shop Hits Las Vegas
Drooling over the runway looks from New York Fashion Week last week? Me too. We’ll have to wait a few months for those. But if you’re in Vegas and need a fashion fix, you’re in luck. Rent The Runway Las Vegas just opened a new shop last month in The Cosmopolitan. During my recent trip to sin city, I was able to stop in and check it out. In this showroom, you can rent cocktail dresses, evening gowns or wedding dresses for the night starting at $40 and going up to $500. Plenty of handbags and jewelry are also available to rent for the evening if you want the complete look or if you just need one more accessory for the fab outfit you already own.
Ever wonder if you can actually fit into those Hervé Leger bandages dresses that look AMAZING on so many and whether you can breathe in them all night? Here’s your chance to find out…they rent these for $125 for the night. Let’s just hope their sanitizing process is stellar. After all, it is Vegas, baby. Garments can be returned to the shop anytime the next day or mailed back and you will only be charged for one night as long as it’s postmarked on the next day. Evidently, there is also a 4 day reserve too for the same price…for those who already know that after a night in Vegas, trekking over to the Cosmopolitan again the next day will just be mission impossible. Not headed to Vegas? Rent The Runway also has 2 other showrooms in New York City. Plus, you can always order online…which just might be the easiest way to “shop” for your next weekend trip away.
With the Grammys on earlier this week, I’ve had music on the brain…and these fab Beats Heartbeats by Lady Gaga ear headphones which I first spotted in the casino “vending machine” at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas earlier this month. Silly me checked them out but kept on going and they’ve been on my mind ever since. But they will be mine soon enough though as I found them online here. I am loving these as they aren’t your typical boring earbuds; they have an edge to them in white with gold studs, 7 ear bud sets to ensure a perfect fit, high performance sound, and Control Talk Universal so you can take calls without having to shout into the end of your phone. Plus, the tough look of these Beats Heartbeats by Lady Gaga just may tell those seat mates on my next flight, “We’re done talking,” without me having to say so myself. And that is worth every penny.
