Travel Tip: Healthy Eating En Route
Vacation is often a time to let loose…late nights out, excess shopping, a break from your exercise routine, and my personal favorite, indulging in decadent meals. Calories don’t count on vacation, right? We’re all for it! Sounds great…until that crummy feeling comes over us on day 2 or 3. We know it’s half of the fun, but resist the super rich foods a couple meals each day and munch on healthy snacks in between. Make the memories about where you are and who you’re with, not about how terrible you’re feeling.
The week before your trip, head to the grocery store specifically for food for your trip. The airport and hotel may have a small selection of healthy eats but you know it’s never the best of what’s out there. So do yourself a favor and stock up on healthy favorites before you head out. Here are a few things we love…
Luna Bars Nutz over Chocolate and S’mores
Brothers-All-Natural Fruit Crisps
Sabra Classic Hummus with Pretzels Single Serve
Back to Nature Honey Graham Sticks
Sunmaid Vanilla Yogurt Raisins
…and most importantly, WATER! Lots of it especially for re-hydration on the plane and in higher altitudes. It’s always the best choice and zero calories! Now, just remember to pack your goodies in your carry-on and have a little snack before you hit the security lines. This way those salty pretzels and gooey cinnamon rolls in the terminal won’t tempt you…well, not as much anyway.
