Travel Journal: Thanksgiving Travel Highlights

We avoided the Sunday after Thanksgiving travel frenzy and waited until Monday to head back home after a week up North in Jersey for the holiday. As usual, we had a great time, but I’m always happy to settle back in at home. I love looking back and remembering the highlights of the trip and the things that I missed most while we were away. It always makes me appreciate where we’ve been and where we are now…and just reminds me how lucky we truly are. Here’s an overview below.
Things I missed:
1. Flip flops & tees
2. The smell of my own sheets and towels
3. Not having to dodge deer on the road
4. Seeing (and feeling) the warm Florida sun each day
5. Hydrated skin
6. My bed
7. Weekly meet-ups with Miami friends & family
8. Maintaining my weight (we were with the Italian side)
9. My comfy, worn out, cotton PJs (I mostly had my flannel sets with me…a bit more presentable)
10. My electric toothbrush

Things I loved:
1. Makeovers with my 9 year old niece, Marisa
2. Post-turkey dance contests in the living room with all 13 kids in the family
3. Warm Sausage Bread awaiting us after a night at the bar
4. Backyard Kickball with the whole family
5. Rocco’s 1st time bowling
6. Dinner with old friends in Manhattan
7. Laundry and ironing – thanks, Mom
8. Lasagna, pepperoni, parmesan-reggiano, crumb cake, bagels, pot roast, sweet potatoes, ice cream cake, homemade apple, white cheddar, & caramelized red onion pizza
9. Laughing & crying when we all realized Mom was only serving decaf coffee the whole time
10. Seeing Grandma & Papa playing with our son, Rocco
