Jonathan Adler Wool Duchess Tote

When it’s chilly out, I’m stocking up on anything that looks like it will keep me warm and cozy…down to the bag under my arm.  So, this classic Jonathan Adler Wool Duchess Tote in charcoal immediately made my shopping list, especially with the fun accents of navy patent trim and red stitching. Measuring 18″ wide x 9.5 ” deep, this tote is perfect for carrying the essentials (it even tells you what to put where) and keeps them safe and sound with four inside pockets and a main compartment zipper closure. It seems those “happy chic” folk have thought of everything…it even has a Navy Patent bottom for extra protection in case, god forbid, you have to put it down. Need a little more room?  The Black Jonathan Adler Wool Countess Tote (measuring 17″ wide x 14″ deep) is also available at our e-boutique.  Go on, get comfy!

Miami fashion blogger, Erika Thomas (a.k.a. Blah Blah Blonde), is an avid traveler and lover of all things luxurious.  Lucky for us, she’s here to share her travel style tips on how to look fabulous no matter the destination.

BLAH BLAH BLONDE

When traveling, it’s important to pack smart without forfeiting style and purpose. I’ve been jetsetting the globe since I was born, and now I’ve got packing nailed down to an art form. Whether you’re headed to Europe for a week or South America for a long weekend, planned packing can result in a stress-free jaunt that’s truly relaxing. Don’t just Arrive Chic—stay that way! By focusing on key jewels and shoes that can transition from day to night, you’ll look polished and have room for a few new purchases while abroad.

Here are some essentials that caught my eye—they are great for the flight, for cocktails, or for simply exploring a fabulous new place. Splashes of color coordinate seamlessly with classic neutrals—such as the marigold Hermes scarf and cool cashmere shift by Tomas Maier. Accessories should become staples in your suitcase. Rotate the clothing based on season and location—voila; you’ll be a professional chic traveler in no time. Investing in quality pieces that you can recycle throughout your wardrobe? Now that’s chic!

Safari at Lion Sands Private Game Reserve

Make your dream vacation list and make it happen. First, decide when…for your 10 year anniversary…for your 40th birthday…next Valentine’s Day. Once it’s on the calendar, you’ll be committed to making this dream come true. To some, traveling is a “luxury”. To me, it’s a necessity. It feeds the soul.

Remember, traveling…

  • opens your mind to other cultures
  • reminds you that life exists outside of your hometown bubble
  • shows you the true beauty of the world we live in
  • makes you appreciate the everyday luxuries in your own country
  • can create a special bond between friends & family traveling together
  • supports the economy
  • recharges your batteries
Besides, you’ll be able to tell amazing stories. Now, what’s on your list?  Mine includes an African Photographic Safari, Overwater Bungalows in Tahiti, and an Alaskan Cruise with a Glacier Helicopter Tour.

Trina Turk Brick Stud Earrings

Stud earrings are, obviously, the most travel-friendly jewelry of all. I love them because they take up such a small amount of space that I can pack a ton of them! That said, a perfect pair like these Trina Turk Gold Brick Stud Earrings, could make me leave all the others at home. Measuring 3/4″ square, the iconic Trina Turk Palm Springs Block print design makes enough of a statement not to get lost in your locks. Plus, these beauties can easily take you from day to night, especially since they weigh close to nothing. I’m loving the classic 18K gold. But, if you’re not a gold girl, no worries. We have the Trina Turk Silver Brick Stud Earrings too. Check out all our glam Trina Turk Holiday jewelry at our e-boutique. As an added bonus, the vintage-inspired Trina Turk print pouch the jewelry comes in is just as much of a treasure.

It’s rained a ton here in Miami lately. So, I’ve been shopping for new rainboots and I am loving ALL of these. No matter where you are, everyone needs a pair at some point. Traveling to a rainy destination like Seattle or London?  Maybe, you live up north and will be in 6 inches of snow soon. Or maybe you live in Sunny South Florida…which isn’t always so sunny. Whatever your situation, gear up and go get wet with these fantastic boots!

Pack This Note Pad by Knock Knock

For years, I hated packing.  But, I realized it’s because trying to remember everything I need to bring is too much for the brain…especially at midnight, the night before you leave. Here’s something that’s made packing a little happier for me.

Make yourself a master packing list. Start one when packing for your next trip and add to it as you need additional things for specific trips…sweaters, bikinis, hiking boots, evening gowns, etc.

Change your list as your tastes (and wardrobe) changes and as your kids get older. Their needs can change quickly. This way you never have to think “what do I need this trip?” just check it off the list – or cross it out. Need a little help getting started or maintaining your master list? Purchase the PACK THIS! Notepad by Knock Knock which has already listed everything you could possibly need. If you’re more of a techy, we like the new Packing Pal app for iphones. This app helps you create your own packing lists, suggests packing methods and what to pack, and lets you email or print your lists. Happy Packing!
