Chick on the Go Kit

The easiest way to pack lightly? Pack interchangeable clothing in neutral colors that can be worn more than once. We love this great kit from Chick on the Go for $289. This compact set includes a black wide leg pant, a black slip dress, an off white long sleeve shirt, an off white tank top and a black versatile poncho which can also be used as a skirt and a shirt. It also comes with two scarves, black and off white, which can also be used as belts or headbands.  Maybe best of all, it’s made of a soft, matte rayon spandex that doesn’t wrinkle. Add a few of your own brightly colored accessories and you’re good to go for almost any trip! Check out their site for 25 different outfits that can be created with these pieces.  Love it but aren’t ready to commit to the whole kit? They’re having a contest right now and they want your opinion of what a smaller kit should include. “Like” The Chick on the Go Facebook page and answer their question there of which product you would like to see developed and be entered to win what ends up being created! Hurry though, the giveaway ends Midnight EST May 27, 2012.

Royal Caribbean's "Oasis of the Seas"...the next cruise I want to take with on board zip-line, Starbucks, and "Central Park".

When going on a cruise, pack lightly. In fact, if possible pack in a carry-on for cruises 7 days or less. This may seem like mission impossible but it’s important – if your airline loses your luggage, chances are it’s not catching up with you after you set sail. Besides, have you seen the size of those interior cabins? It’s hard to move around in them without luggage in the room.

These cute Nike Free Run+ 3 sneaks in Dark Grey may help inspire you to workout on vacation...and they're light as air so they won't weigh down your luggage.

Questioning whether or not to bring the work out gear?  Unless you’re going on a super active vacation where you’re exerting yourself all day, everyday (like during a ski trip), bring it!  Still not so confident you’ll make it to the gym? Pack just one workout outfit and pair of trainers – you can always wash or get more clothes there. If that cruise ship has an amazing ocean view from the treadmills or the luxury hotel has the sickest gym you’ve ever seen, you may suddenly feel inspired…especially if regret sets in after saying “I’ll have dessert. I’m on vacation!”

Disneyland Park

Last night we were watching the “Disneyland” episode of Modern Family and at one point (probably at the first glimpse of their manicured, floral Mickey Mouse) I turned to my husband and said, “I want to go to Disneyland. I’ve never been!” I failed to mention how many times I’ve been to Disney WORLD in this conversation. To tell the truth, growing up in Florida, I’d been to Disney World so many times that the last time I went (in my 20s) I decided I was done until I had my own children. Now that our son is almost 2 1/2, we’ve been talking about it and we’re about ready to make the trip to Orlando, despite the 4 hour car ride. But then we saw it…the commercial during Modern Family announcing Cars Land opening on June 15th! My husband and I just turned to each other in silence with jaws dropped and a sparkle in our eyes. CARS LAND!!! Our son, Rocco, can’t get enough of the Cars movie. Shocking, I know…isn’t it a requirement for little boys now? He has 3 Lightening McQueens, multiple PJs, t-shirts, a booster chair, a figurine set, the Mater Golf Set, Mater’s Tall Tales, and has seen the movie god knows how many times. So in turn, seeing how much joy this brings him, we love it too. Here’s a glimpse of what’s to come. We’re most excited about the rides: Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, Luigi’s Flying Tires, and Radiator Springs Racers.

No matter which park we decide on visiting first, it probably won’t be for 6 months or so…baby #2 arrives in 7 weeks! My vote though? Disneyland. Now, I just have to find the equivalent of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in California.

Last weekend we headed to the West Coast (of Florida, that is) to welcome my husband’s parents…they have officially retired here and are now Floridians…though I’m sure they will always hold Jersey near and dear to their hearts. It was a rainy weekend so our usual plans of hitting the clubhouse pool, Sanibel Island Beach, and nearby park Splash Pad were scratched. I can’t say I was totally disappointed though as getting in a bathing suit at 8 months pregnant is not really my favorite thing to do. Grandma, Papa, & Aunt Cindy did entertain us (most importantly, our son Rocco) plenty though with a trip to the Imaginarium Science Center, delicious lunch at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, and wagon rides and walks through the neighborhood between showers. Despite the gloomy weather, another perfect weekend of family fun. Take a look…

These cute Josie Gio Pajamas should be on your packing list!

Okay, we’re not saying sleep in the buff every night…after all, what if you’re traveling with family? But, only pack one pair of pjs or sleepwear set (or sexy lingerie if that’s your idea of a real vacation) for every three nights you’re away. This is not where you should take up valuable luggage space and you can always do wash. Can’t bear to wear the same thing for 3 nights? Live a little and, yes, sleep naked. You’ll be thankful for the tip when you’re able to fit that extra pair of shoes in your luggage…and we’re sure your significant other will be too.
